Ah, Budehuc!
Ah, Budehuc! What a welcome sight after a long journey, even with all the snow laying around. I know, it seems like an odd time of year to be taking a holiday, but I have a perfectly good explanation. You see, I recently sustained a very serious injury while on duty, very nearly a career-ender. They patched me up at Brass Castle, but informed me that full recovery was going to take some time. I didn’t take that kind of news very well – being out for an extended length of time is almost as bad as having to quit the Knighthood altogether, and I guarantee you I am not ready to give up and go back to Iksay to become a farmer (no offense, Barts, if you’re out there listening). I spent the holidays with my mother at home in Iksay, and that was as much as I could stand of the quiet, backwater ways there.
I think the infirmary warden got tired of me hanging on the ramparts sighing in longing every time a troop rode out to duty, he suggested that I might find it more relaxing to recuperate at Budehuc Castle instead. He seemed to have some inkling that Sir Salome had returned there recently himself, which might explain where he’s disappeared to. I remember it being such a lively place, with friendly faces and all the amenities, and much more interesting than any other options, so I decided it would be much more in my interest to follow Sir Salome to Budehuc. And so, here I am, riding through the open, friendly gate once more, here to convalesce in style and comfort. I’m looking forward to seeing lots of old friends, especially now that I hear rumors that more of my compatriots are loafing about here as well. It sounds as though I came at just the right time!
