winter's coming

I saw the first snowflakes in the air this morning! Granted, they were only falling mixed with the rain, and it was short-lived. They didn't stick, and once it warmed up about ten in the morning it became all rain. But it was the first glimpse of the season to come. I admit, I got a little thrill.

And I was just telling Troy that it wouldn't be long now...

Things have quieted down regarding the Zexen Council...and I for one am glad. Still, Nei mentioned something that I should pay attention to. I don't want to let my guard down yet, particularly since I'm operating without orders. I can only hope that once negotiations resolve, I will not be ordered to leave for somewhere else. I like it here. I wish Borus were here, but I think I can survive without him. I shall have to send him a gift for the holiday, as I don't expect to be able to meet up with him before then.

Hmm, that reminds me. Perhaps I should work on a gift list, so I can be ready to shop. I don't think I have a lot of people to buy for, but it will be easier to know for sure if I put it down on paper. Let's see...

Mother (of course...goodness, what do I get her this year?)
Borus (can never go wrong with Kanakan wine)
L. Chris (will she be here or at Brass Castle?)
L. Salome (?)
Kathy (hm...something special? not too special? would she like a pretty sweater?)
Troy (more wine? or something different...)
Queen (clothing for her children)
Euram
L. Cecile (what do you get her?)
Watari
Louis and Apple (I must be optimistic)

who I should at least bake for, or get a small candy gift: Rahal, Melville, Nei, Nanami, Hervey, Thomas, Mamie, Lo Hak, Wyatt ??Wyatt

Goodness. The more I think about this, the more depressing it is. So many of my friends, people I considered close, have vanished into their correct times. It's very sad. I shall have to light a candle to them on christmas eve...may its light lead them back home to happiness.
