RP with Luserina Barows

Who: Percival and Luserina [profile] miss_luserina
When: the afternoon before the infirmary is evacuated
Where: Luserina's room mostly
What: Luserina and Percival take a break from their duties in the infirmary for tea!

Percival: *has reached the point in the afternoon when his body is really starting to ache, and retreats from his duties as a temporary medic to wipe his hands and hunt out some of that splendid medicine Mathiu has mixed up*

Luserina: *is just washing her hands, having helped to change some bandages when she sees him*  Oh!  Sir Percival.  *blushes*  Thank you so much for all your help lately.  *as though she's been working in the infirmary for so long*

Percival: *smiles kindly for Luserina* I only wish I could do more, Lady Luserina. I'm not much of a medic, I'm afraid.

Luserina: The extra pair of hands is much appreciated, though!  It's been so exhausting--everything has been so busy, and only three pairs of hands to do it all...but oh--I shouldn't ramble so.  *blushes!*  You look quite tired, Sir Percival...could I offer you something to drink?

Percival: Actually, that would be lovely. *holds up the little bottle of herbs* I'm supposed to take this with a drink, for my aches. Shall we step out for a break? *cranes his neck to look around* So many of our patients have been let out, the rest are in good hands.

Luserina: *follows his gaze*  Yes...I think it would be safe to do so.  Things are less stressful now than the were.  Please!  *grabs her stashed tea set*  Won't you join me upstairs?  I would be glad to make some tea for us.

Percival: *another bright smile* I would be delighted!

Luserina: *leads him upstairs, making tea for them both*  Are you nearly healed?  You had mentioned an injury.  *has a handsome man in her room and no idea what to talk about--great.*

Percival: *takes a seat somewhere comfortable, folding his hands on his knee* Not nearly enough, I'm afraid. At least I'm on my feet, now - believe me, I've had quite enough of being laid up. *smiles wryly* I can understand why some of our patients wanted to sneak out.

Luserina: Oh yes, I can quite understand it, but it's so very bad for their health!  With all this madness...with that...that Luca Blight.  *says the name like it's foul poison*  Everyone needs to be especially careful to stay healthy!

Percival: *a little surprised by her energy* Well, yes...I can't disagree with that. *shakes his head a bit* Lord Salome caught me up on the details, but I'm afraid I know nothing about this Blight character. I only regret that I'm not healthy enough to fight myself, alongside my captain.

Luserina: I wish I knew nothing of him.  He has done the worst sort of harm to dear friends of mine, and for no reason that I can see beyond the gratification of his own ego.  *clearly, isn't a fan*  But I'm sorry.  This is terribly unpleasant conversation.  *seems ashamed of herself*  I'm sure you will be fully healed soon!

Percival: *smiles to put her at ease - no harm done* I hope so. I already feel better, having a purpose. And so many friends around to warm my spirits.

Luserina: And we are so grateful to have you!  *bright smile*  And your friends--how happy they must be to see you again!

Percival: *positively beams* Yes indeed! Sir Borus would be in so much trouble if I weren't here to keep him in line, I'm sure. And Lady Chris...well, being a knight just wouldn't be the same were she not my captain. *tilts his head* Though making new friends is just as delightful, I must say.

Luserina: I have not seen Sir Borus, but I have met Lady Chris, and she seems like an impressive woman!   *blushes*  Oh yes!  Being parted from Rainwall has been so much less lonely, with so many fine people about...  And it has been wonderful meeting them all.

Percival: But, did I hear rumors right? There are a number of people from Falena here as well? That must be quite the comfort to you. *uncorks the medicine bottle to take with tea* ...I mean, I did run into your brother, earlier...

Luserina: Yes, just recently!  It has been wonderful to see Lord Ferid and Prince Frey again!  Oh--And I'm very sorry for my brother.  I hope he did not say anything to offend.  He can be...abrasive, at times.

Percival: *sly little smile* Oh, believe me, I've dealt with many of his kind before. I pay such bluster no mind. Most of the nobles in Vinay del Zexay can be just as...pompous.

Luserina: *laughs*  I suppose you must have!  I have only been once, but it seems like a lovely city, much like my dear Rainwall!  *has very fond memories of the city*

Percival: Oh, it has its charms, but I'm not a city boy myself...I grew up in Iksay, not far from here. *coy head tilt* I should like to hear all about your home, with a such a lovely name like 'Rainwall.' So poetic.

Luserina: Iksay...Oh, the farming village?  I visited there earlier--it was so charming, and everyone there was so kind!  *blushes*  Oh, it's not really so poetic as all that...  It's a city built around a waterfall, so..well, as you might imagine, there is water everywhere, even though we are a little ways inland.

Percival: *leans forward with his chin on his hand, looking keenly interested* Ooh, a waterfall? It sounds beautiful. Far more beautiful than Vinay, or even my rustic little hometown. *cute smile* Though, the sunsets there are quite nice in the summer.

Luserina: Oh yes, and in the summer, you can often see rainbows through the spray!  *bright smile*  Oh, I thought the snow in Iksay was wonderful, once I was used to the chill.  It's terribly fun to play in, and the fields look so vast and so beautiful covered in white as they were.

Percival: Oh, if you think they're beautiful covered in snow, wait until you see them covered in wheat! Not white, but pure gold. Hm, perhaps if I remain stationed here, I'll have to show you around Iksay, when the weather is better.

Luserina: *mustn't look too eager, but...*  Oh, would you really?  --If it's not too much trouble, that is--  I would love to see it in the summer, and to have someone who knows the town as you do would be exceptional!

Percival: *laughs easily* Why certainly! Though, there isn't much to it. One quick trip down main street and you've seen it all. I would ask for you to return the favor, so I can see the rainbows in Rainwall, but...Falena is a bit far, isn't it?

Luserina: I assure you, Sir, if I find a way to return to my home, I will gladly show you my city.  *smiles!*

Percival: *can't help but smile with that infectious energy* Oh, goodness, I think if we're going to be friends, you don't need to call me 'Sir,' Miss Luserina. It's hard to keep up noble airs when you've been side by side elbow-deep in bandages and blood.

Luserina: *laughs, he does make a good point*  Then, please, I insist you call me 'Luserina'.  In return, I shall refrain from calling you 'Sir'...but please forgive me if I occasionally forget!

Percival: Oh, certainly. Habits are hard to break, after all. *raises his teacup to her* I will do my best, even though I'm sure your brother will look at me askance if I don't treat you with the proper respect. *sly eyebrow*

Luserina: *if she rolled her eyes any farther, they'd roll clean out of her head*  Please, you mustn't pay any mind to my brother.  He is convinced that all men, save for himself, are out to smear my honor, and won't listen to a word of reason otherwise.

Percival: It really is quite amusing to watch - I hope you don't mind me saying so.

Luserina: No, it's quite alright!  *laughs*  I know he can be a handful sometimes, so you have my thanks for not...well.  Let's just say he had an eventful first week here, from my understanding of things.

Percival: Oh, my. Better off not to know, I think. *curious head-tilt* You didn't arrive together?

Luserina: *shakes her head*  No, I arrived a short time after he did--quite surprised, I assure you!  I'm still not entirely sure how it happened.

Percival: No? Interesting...then again, come to think of it, the Falenans who just arrived also sort of just...appeared, I think. Lord Salome didn't tell me about that...is it happening a lot around here?

Luserina: I'm not sure...  I've heard hints that it has something to do with Viki, but I really don't understand it, myself.

Percival: *knowing smile* Ah, yes. I'm acquainted with Viki's little quirks. That wouldn't surprise me in the least. *back to cute* But then, it means you have all your friends here now, and are experiencing a new part of the world, I suppose.

Luserina: Oh yes, and really, it's all been so fascinating!  *is delighted by it all, really*  The weather here was a bit of a shock--Falena is always so warm--but the rest has been pleasant!  *except for That Guy*

Percival: Don't worry, it will get much nicer come spring. The fields all coming into bloom and green, and the lake sparkling again...I'm sure you'll love it. It may not be rainbows and waterfalls, but it is quite charming in its own way.

Luserina: I really can't wait!  Hervey--ah, the pirate with the injured arm--he and I plan to go swimming once the weather warms a bit more.  Oh, you should join us!

Percival: I'll have to consider it. I don't get to swim for pleasure very often. Always hard at work, you know! *chuckles*

Luserina: *laughs*  Except for right now.  *smile*

Percival: Well... *coyly* ...even devoted infirmary workers need a break now and then. *brief sigh - not too deep, because it hurts his chest* Ah, I'm glad Master Mathiu knows his way around remedies...I'd be quite sore if not for that medicine.

Luserina: I hope you aren't hurting too badly.  It was your ribs that were injured, wasn't it?

Percival: *nod* I was, sadly, trampled on the battlefield. *looks away with a regretful sigh* I feel rather foolish, I'm supposed to be a good horseman, but I got thrown at just the wrong time.

Luserina: Oh, you mustn't feel bad!  Such a mistake could happen to anyone!

Percival: I suppose it just shows that even a master horseman has a few things to learn. *rubs at his chest without thinking* At least, I'm in the right place to rest up - once all this present mess is over. I look forward to spending long days meeting new people and swapping tales of our homelands.

Luserina: You oughtn't fuss at it so.  You will make the soreness worse.  *gentle scolding, as though she's in the infirmary again*  Oh yes!  And perhaps a trip or two to Iksay?  *little smile*

Percival: *drops his hand* Yes, Miss Luserina! *smiles* That sounds like a good idea. I'm sure my mother would love to cook dinner for any guests I bring home.

Luserina: *smiles*  Just Luserina, remember?  *blushes*  Oh--I--  *guests?  home?  mother?*  Your mother sounds very kind!

Percival: *beams* Yes, she's very kind - very doting. I don't get home as often as I used to, thanks to my rank, so every time I visit I get fussed over. *amusing sort of dodgy look* I haven't told her about my injury - I don't want to worry her.

Luserina: *touched!*  Oh, that's so sweet of you, not wanting to worry your mother.  *might be a bit starry eyed*

Percival: *chuckles, although he's seen that look before. Many a time. Sigh* Yes, well, I'm sure she won't think it so sweet if she finds out I passed right by Iksay to come here. But, really. I can blame Lord Salome and Lady Chris for being here.

Luserina: I'm sure she will forgive you in that case, don't you think?  *finishes her tea*  Besides, she can hardly find fault with you for doing your duty!

Percival: Quite right! I'd like to think so. But...I'll be watching what I say next time I visit. *winks* At least I'm close to Iksay. I could visit anytime I wanted.

Luserina: You could, and you should!  But perhaps after all this mess is cleaned up.

Percival: Hm, yes. *finishes his tea as well* When riding doesn't cause me so much stress. I'm perfectly content lounging about Budehuc for a few weeks. *smirk*

Luserina: *takes the teacup when he's finished*  I suppose there is no harm in lounging.  Indeed, it might do you some good!  *little laugh*  Ah, we should probably return now.  We have been gone quite some time.

Percival: Yes, we probably should. At least, the time sitting has done me good, I think I can be on my feet the rest of the day now. *pushes himself out of the cushy chair, and then offers his arm* Shall I escort you, miss?

Luserina: *blushes!*  Why--yes, thank you.  *takes his arm and follows him out, shutting the lamps as they go*
